Hello everyone! Here's a slightly longer post... We've decided to take the blog towards a slightly different direction. We're working to give you different content with the hope that this blog will serve as a platform for conversation. Without further ado, here are my 'holy grail' products - things I use every day and will continue to purchase for many years. Leave a comment below and let me know what are your favourite products! Shu Uemura Oil Cleanser – Anti/Oxi Hands-down the best skin cleanser ever (and I’ve tried a LOT)! The Shu Uemura Anti/Oxi Oil Cleanser effortlessly removes all of my makeup (both face and eyes) and leaves my skin feeling soft and supple. It also helped prevent breakouts from the polluted Hong Kong air last year when I studied abroad. Normal cleansers tend to make my skin feel tight and often leave a waxy film that I notice when I rinse it off. Other oil cleansers I’ve tried (including Boscia, Dior, Josie Maran, Laura Mercier, Ole Henriksen, and La Mer) leave my skin feeling tight or greasy – some don’t even take off makeup! Runners up are the Josie Maran Argan Cleansing Oil and the Dior Instant Gentle Cleansing Oil – but still nowhere near as good as the Shu Uemura oil cleansers! There are seven different types of cleansing oils that cater to different skin needs* (list below). In the US, the 450mL bottles range from $67.00 - $81.00, but they should last a long time. The smaller 150mL bottles (great for travel) range from $31.00 - $37.00. Check Amazon as well because some a few dollars cheaper and qualify for free shipping. * One and a half pumps is enough for me Types of Oil Cleansers: Blanc Chroma Cleansing Oil Key features: newest to the cleansing oil line their most advanced 4D brightening formula, targets melano-stains on the skin’s surface that cause skin tone darkness and harm healthy complexion, for all skin types Ultime8 Sublime Beauty Cleansing Oil Key features: composed of 8 exquisite botanical origin oils from all over the world proven to have the highest skincare efficacy for a petal-soft silky smooth sensation, for all skin types High Performance Balancing Cleansing Oil Advanced Formula Key features: Classic Shu Uemura cleansing oil reformulated with an advanced High Performance Cleansing Oil System for significantly improved removability of waterproof makeup for all skin types Porefinist Anti-Shine Fresh Cleansing Oil Key features: lightweight cleansing oil that leaves skin feeling fresh and refined, water-like formula that dissolves and washes away excess sebum and blackheads to clear pores, regulates sebum secretion day after die, blots shine, shrinks pores, doesn’t leave skin pulled or parched, ideal for oily and acne-prone skin Anti/Oxi Skin Refining Cleansing Oil Key features: moringa extract and green tea extract creates a result of glowing clarity and refined smoothness, instantly captures and clears pollutants that accelerate aging stress, for all skin types Whitefficient Clear Brightening Gentle Cleansing Oil Key Features: removes melanin-filled dead cells for brightening, fortified with Mito-White Complex and Vitamin C to prevent accumulation of melanin, skin is left clarified and brightened, for all skin types Cleansing Oil beauty Oil Premium A/I Key Features: luxuriously rich, focuses on improving skin texture, leaves the skin moisturized and nourished, ideal for dry and sensitive skin conditions Murad Acne Spot Treatment To be honest, I haven’t tried any other spot treatment but it’s because I didn’t have to! Sure, it stinks a little (maybe a lot) and stings a tiny bit, but it works – and that’s the point right? I usually like to feel products working immediately, so I don’t mind the tingly feeling at all. I dab a generous amount onto a spot I have before going to bed, and I’ll do this every night until it’s completely gone, which is usually within 2-3 days. It comes in a tiny 0.5oz tube, but it’s a $16 investment (Sephora) that will last you forever! Be sure to get the one with SULFUR, not their new formula with benzoyl peroxide, which doesn't work as well or at all for some people. L’Occitane Repairing Oil Best leave-in daytime hair treatment! This is lightweight oil that nourishes your hair throughout the day. I prefer oils to lotions and creams because it’s absorbed immediately and doesn’t weight my hair down. It has a subtle soft, powdery smell, but it’s very nice even for someone who doesn’t like powdery smells. The best is to pump out a pea-sized amount, rub it between your hands, and distribute it through slightly wet hair. I find this gives me a bit of volume. It’s $26 for 3.4 fl oz on their website. Bioré Deep Cleansing Pore Strips (Great for men too!) I am seriously addicted to these. It hurts a little to peel off, but once you do, you can see all the dirt and build up pulled out into little spikes on the strip. If that’s not proof that it works, I don’t know what is! I usually buy mine on Amazon for $6.49 for 14 nose strips, but you should be able to find them in your local drug stores. Origins Drink Up Intensive Overnight Mask (Also great for both men and women!) This is a must for winter and long plane rides (it’s clear so no one will know you have something on)! It’s a hydrating mask that seals in moisture and creates a protective barrier on your skin. I like to put a good amount on after cleansing my skin, including around my eye area. Then I let it dry for ten to fifteen minutes before crawling into bed, so it doesn’t get on my pillow and sheets. In the morning, I rinse off whatever my skin didn’t need. My skin is left feeling plump and nourished. It’s $25.00 for 100mL on the Origins website. Bioderma I’ve used Bioderma for several years now. It’s the first step to my nightly skincare routine (post coming soon!). It’s gentle, effective at removing makeup, and perfect for my sensitive skin. There’s a reason why it’s so loved by beauty bloggers and YouTubers! They usually come packs of two and can be found in many French pharmacies. In the US, it’s sold for $12.98 for 250mL (one bottle) + $4.15 shipping on Amazon. The Reebok Instapump Fury celebrated its 20th anniversary last year, and the model is still having a countless number of new releases, with 27 collaborative versions issued in 2014 for both genders. Besides being not so popular in Europe or America, this model has been highly praised in Asia for a long time, particularly in Japan and South Korea, where a diversity of fashion trends allow people to delve into more futuristic styles, including sneakers . Designed by Steven Smith in 1994, the shoe featured a bold look, no laces, bright colors and the latest Reebok technologies at this time: Graphlight Bridge for lightweight support of the arch, Hexalite for cushioning and the Pump System flowing all over the top of the shoe, allowing a custom fit through an internal inflation mechanism. Here are some of the most iconic realeases of Instapump Fury thru the years: Mita x Reebok Instapump Fury Using an original knit panel _ 11 by Boris Bidjan Saberi x 24 Kilates x Reebok Insta Pump Fury Geometric black and white look fusionning the base and the pump system AAPE by A Bathing Ape x Reebok Instapump Fury A camo print top with 3M details Some of the latest releases: Reebok Instapump Fury OG Year of The Goat Released for the 2015 Chinese New Year Invincible x Reebok Instapump Fury “Grand Manege” A luxury scaf themed pair Sandro Paris x Reebok Instapump Fury
Featuring two models for women, one for men and one unisex I first spotted the Nude Marble Works XS and the Nude Marble Mini All while browsing the Balenciaga store over winter break in Honolulu, Hawaii. Balenciaga Honolulu was having a special 10% off all handbags at the beginning of January! If you happen to be in Hawaii and find your way into the store, don't forget to ask if the promotion is still going on! The saleswoman helping me wasn't able to say how long the discount would be for, but I'll keep my fingers crossed for you. My personal favourite, the grey Nude Marble Mini All, came to a total of $1400 after tax and the 10% discount.
A little more about the actual design - The bag is made from calfskin and comes with a thin, leather-framed mirror. The exterior leather is smooth and sleek. Classic. And I think we can all definitely appreciate a bag that won't get caught on our clothes! The shoulder strap is removable, adjustable, and sits comfortably on the shoulder, like every shoulder bag should. It's also not heavy, which is something to consider if you'll be carrying it the whole day.The outside is quite stiff, but it gives the bag a more sturdy and durable feel. The inside is simple - adorned with nothing but a small zip pocket. All in all, it's a simple but sleek bag. I hope to see more designs like this from Balenciaga! |
